I'm Jamie Draper. I live in UK, where I turn design specs into reality.
I've always been drawn to making things. Like many children, my earliest love was LEGO, small components that could be endlessly reconfigured into anything. That love of composition stayed with me as I grew. It found its way into music, first learning the piano, then later producing electronic music and chasing the joy of layering sounds into something that felt alive.
When I discovered programming, it felt like coming home. Here was a medium where I could shape abstract ideas into tangible tools, things that worked, that did something. I spent two years teaching myself to code, piecing together every resource I could get my hands on. When I landed my first programming job it felt like winning the lottery, I was being paid to create things I cared about.
My dad was an engineer who designed devices to help blind people live more independently. I think a lot of my attention to accessibility and thoughtful technology comes from him. The idea that good design should serve everyone, not just the most able or tech savvy, is something I carry with me in every project.
These days, I still love to build things. Since starting out as a front end developer, I've since gone to work all across the stack. I'm happiest when I can see how the different layers come together to form a complete system.
